Yoga Philosophy  

Yoga is the coming together of the body, mind and soul.

 

Yoga means “to tie strands of the mind together”.

 

Yoga helps direct the mind without distraction or interruption, creating a state in which we are always present in every action by focusing all of our attention to the activity in which we are currently engaged. Attentiveness gives us the ability to perform each task better and at the same time be conscious of our actions.

 

The actual practice of yoga takes each person in a different direction. Yoga can lead to a change for the better in all aspects of our life and has many benefits, which include and increase in energy levels, blood circulation and attentiveness, as well as the relief of chronic pain, insomnia, digestive problems, and asthma.

 

 

Muladhara Chakra

 

Also known as the root charka and associated with the colour red.This charka is attributed to grounding the body.

 

Purpose: Kinesthetic feelings, movement

Spiritual lesson: Material world lessons

Physical Dysfunctions: Lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumours, depression, immune disorders

Mental & Emotional Issues: Survival, self-esteem, social disorder, security, family

Information stored in this chakra: Familial beliefs, superstitions, loyalty, instincts, physical pleasure and pain, touch
